Dopo un iter piuttosto laborioso e un intervento diretto del Santo Padre che chiedeva di “evidenziare nel testo tematiche strettamente connesse al tema della dignità, come ad esempio il dramma della povertà, la situazione dei migranti, le violenze contro le donne, la tratta delle persone, la guerra”, l’8 aprile 2024 è stata pubblicata la dichiarazione Dignitas infinita. La categoria di dignità non ha le connotazioni religiose della categoria di sacralità e la sua scelta, come cardine ideale del documento, può essere intesa come il tentativo di impostare un dialogo con la cultura secolare. Il rispetto della dignità delle persone rappresenta, infatti, un principio “che è pienamente conoscibile anche dalla sola ragione” (DI, n. 1) e che ha avuto un’autorevole eco nella Dichiarazione universale dei diritti dell’uomo delle Nazioni Unite il 10 dicembre 1948. La dignità della persona è un dato originario e sulla sua accoglienza è possibile costruire un’autentica fraternità universale. The growing ecological awareness invites us to broaden the horizons of the four principles of Catholic Social Teaching (CST): human dignity, solidarity, subsidiarity, and the common good[1]. The first principle affirms that the human being is an image of God (“imago Dei”) and has a very special dignity which, however, does not imply separation, but rather collaboration and service. Being capable for God (“capax Dei”) and, at the same time, brother of all creatures, the human being must serve them in the logic of gift, thus imitating the kenosis of Christ. Therefore, the awareness of his human dignity must not separate him from the rest of creation, but rather reinforce his responsibility towards all creatures. We are all brothers and sisters of the same heavenly God and part of a single project of love. On the other hand, the respect for creation does not mean that it is static and untouchable, as some neo-pagan or pantheistic movements claim, sacralizing it as “an untouchable taboo” (CV 48).     Par cette réflexion, mon objectif est de présenter certains aspects psycho-éthiques et spirituels de l’empathie, afin de réagir de manière sereine, responsable, solidaire et résiliente en ce temps de pandémie du Covid-19. Dans la première partie de ce Blog, à la lumière des recherches du psychologue Martin Hoffman, nous avons exposé quatre dimensions psycho-éthiques de l’empathie: cognitive, affective, motivationnelle et prosociale. Nous avons démontré comment, dans le contexte actuel du Covid-19, chacune de ces composantes peut favoriser le développement du jugement moral et de la conduite éthique sur les plans personnel, interpersonnel, social et mondial. La dimension spirituelle de l’empathie Toutefois, en complément à cette vision psychologique de Hoffman, il convient d’ajouter une cinquième dimension à l’empathie qui a une importance primordiale sur le plan éthique, à savoir: la dimension spirituelle.
